[About Tirob] Tilob is a vine plant of the fern family that grows naturally in the jungles of Camarines Sur in the Bicol region in the northern part of Luzon in the Philippines. It grows quickly and has a shrub-like nature, reaching a height of about 2m. It has the tendency to wrap around other trees and grow, and can reach a maximum height of about 7m. The central part of the vine has been split open and flattened to be used as a material for woven baskets, trays, and other items. Its strong fibres make woven products strong and durable. Tilobu has also been valued as a medicinal plant since ancient times. It has a history of being used as part of folk remedies, such as using the liquid extracted from the leaves to reduce fevers, or boiling the leaves to make an antifungal poultice. Each piece is carefully hand-knitted, then inspected, finished, and packaged at the factory before being shipped.
