In 1963, Paul Kjaerholm designed the PK-600, a 250kg black marble bowl, for the interior of Fredericia City Hall. At the time, this object, which combined sculpture and functionality, caused a great stir, and Kjaerholm subsequently designed the PK-BOWL, a granite bowl for the home. The square and circle, the smooth finish of the circle and the rough finish of the inside and outside, symbolize the contrast between femininity and masculinity.
