Easter Witch Vase
The ceramic Easter Witch Vase is one of two pieces inspired by the Finnish spring festival, Easter. When spring arrives in Finland in April, Finnish children dress up like witches and hold branches adorned with colorful feathers to celebrate the end of winter. These little witches visit townsfolk, showering blessings on each house and hoping for treats in return. Wishing the townsfolk a prosperous year ahead, the children chant, "Virvon, varvon, tuoreeks terveeks, tulevaks vuodeks; vitsa sulle, palkka mulle" (May the new year be a good one. I give you this branch in return for a treat). Part of a series of seven ceramic objects designed by Company for Artek's FIN/JPN Friendship Collection, the Easter Witch Vase is paired with the Easter Dog Vase, a vase depicting the witch's companion dog. As these are handmade, the shape, size and color may vary from piece to piece. Source: https://www.sempre.jp/
