DOMUS CHAIR Birch Cherry
Inspired by Artek's archives, this special edition Domus Chair combines two different types of wood. The way the birch and cherry complement each other's unique characteristics is a true example of "Wooden Conversations." The back and seat are crafted from smooth-grained, reddish North American cherry wood finished with a honey stain, while the frame is made from Finnish birch wood with a clear lacquer finish. It is handcrafted by skilled artisans at a factory in Finland that has been producing Domus chairs since 1946. The Domus Chair was designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara for the Domus Academica student dormitory in Helsinki. The three-dimensionally curved seat conforms to the human body, ensuring a comfortable design that minimizes fatigue even when sitting for long periods of time.
