Bowl 02 Gray
Shigaraki ware tableware. It's large enough to hold cereal, yogurt, or soup. It can also be used as a small bowl for a quick bite. It holds approximately 250cc when filled to the halfway line. Typical of KIGI (Ryosuke Uehara/Yoshie Watanabe), whose graphic design is at its core, this simple design, composed entirely of straight lines, resembles molded paper. Its exceptionally thin and lightweight design is a testament to its distinctive character. Approximately 2.5 million years ago, the present-day Shigaraki region was submerged beneath Lake Biwa. Sediment and plankton accumulated at the bottom of the lake rose up, and over the course of 2.5 million years, the clay that formed became clay, forming the material for Shigaraki ware. The linear rigidity, the soft impression of ceramic, and the color of the glaze, which was repeatedly adjusted, create a unique texture, resulting in a unique character that cannot be achieved with porcelain. The manufacturing process required extensive trial and error to recreate the thinness and angle of paper. This shape was only possible thanks to Shigaraki clay, which is fire-resistant and well-suited for crafting large objects. The engraved number 670.25 represents the area of Lake Biwa.
