Enigma 425 Pendant Light, Translucent White
Designed in 2003 by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama, the Enigma 425 is a sophisticated Japanese minimalist light fixture with four floating wings of light, creating the impression of a light sculpture. The four glare-blocking acrylic shades are suspended by ultra-thin wires, delivering abundant, soft, transmitted light downward. The upper surface of the shade, which directly receives the light from the light source, has a matte finish, while the lower surface has a glossy finish. The design, which won the iF Award in 2004, was proposed by the designer to Louis Poulsen as a light, transparent style, with multiple shades suspended by ultra-thin wires that appear to float. This idea not only aligned with Louis Poulsen's design philosophy, but also represented a new interpretation of the glare-blocking multiple-shade system. It combines elegant Japanese beauty with Scandinavian simplicity. Enigma means "mystery," but the name was chosen because the shades appear to float in the air when lit from a distance. In 2018, a new black version was added to enhance its versatility. The black color subtly shapes the light, creating a more subdued atmosphere. Source: https://www.sempre.jp/
