The acrylic hemispherical shade spreads a soft, glare-free light into the surrounding space, with both the shade and base acting as reflectors. The lamp's filament is designed to be aligned with the tip of the shade and the tip of the trumpet-shaped socket cover, highlighting the influence of Poul Henningsen, a close friend of Panton's.
