The well-balanced, sculptural, and timeless form is characteristic of Panton's designs. The acrylic hemispherical shade spreads soft, diffused light into the surrounding space. The lamp is designed so that the filament of the bulb is on the line extending from the tip of the shade to the tip of the trumpet-shaped socket cover inside, showing the influence of the lamp designs of Poul Henningsen, who was a personal friend of Panton.
