VL Studio Table / Floor φ250 Brass Unpainted
This lamp was created in the late 1930s by building designer Vilhelm Lauritzen in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for the Danish national broadcasting station (Radio House) in Copenhagen. Nicknamed "VL Studio," it was inspired by a wall lamp that illuminated red and green outside the broadcast studio to indicate whether a broadcast was on-air. This lamp was also used in other spaces within the Radio House, and unlike the "Studio Lamp," it featured a milky white glass shade, creating a warmer atmosphere. These fixtures were designed around the same time as the VL38 Table Lamp, VL Ring Crown, and VL45 Radio House Pendant. The milky white glass shade features a three-layer structure with a polished outer and inner layer of clear glass sandwiched between a middle layer of milky white glass. Furthermore, the inside of the shade, which receives direct light from the bulb, is sandblasted to a matte finish, reflecting and evenly diffusing a soft, pleasant light. Please note that this item is made to order, and cancellations are not accepted after your order has been placed. *Untreated brass will discolor over time and develop a unique texture.
