VL56 Pendant Brass
The VL56 pendant lamp is one of the lamps designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Vega Concert Hall. It still hangs in the wood-paneled bar adjacent to the Vega. The Folketshaus (The People's House), originally designed by the Danish functionalist architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish labor movement, is now a concert hall known as Vega. Lauritzen designed everything in the building, from doorknobs and stairs to electrical outlets, furniture, and lamps. While production of the VL56 was discontinued in the 1980s, it was relaunched in 2023 in chrome and brass versions with minor adjustments and improvements, creating a more contemporary look. The unfinished brass will tarnish and develop a patina over time. It emits glare-free downward light, and the 720 spiral holes punched along the opening of the shade soften the contrast between light and shadow, creating a softer light pattern. This lamp can be enjoyed alone or in a multi-light setup, and creates a beautiful contrast with wood and textiles in your interior. The brass parts are unpainted, and the surface will change and acquire a unique texture over time. Discoloration and spots may be present when you open the package, but this is due to the inherent nature of the material and is not a product defect. [Designed in 1956] Source: https://www.sempre.jp/
