This pendant lamp was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen, one of the most important architects in Danish architectural history and a pioneer of Danish functionalism. It was designed for Folkets Hus (People's House) in Copenhagen's Vesterbro district, which opened in 1956. Its downward, glare-free light illuminates the space. Spiral holes punched along the opening of the shade soften the contrast between light and shadow, creating a soft light pattern.
