Along with the CH22 Lounge Chair, this was the first in a series of chairs designed by Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son in 1950. The CH26 was originally sketched by Wegner as a dining chair version of the CH22 Lounge Chair. However, it was never produced, and no prototypes exist. Both chairs share Wegner's signature design elements: their organic form and structure made of plain wood, their striking backs, and their paper cord-covered seats.
