VLA76 Foie Lounge Chair, oak with oiled finish and leather, sif 90
The Foie chair was designed for the Radio House in Copenhagen (now the Royal Danish Academy of Music), designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1945. It was put into production in close collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2022. The original was made of teak and beech, but the FSC& certified oak frame was used for the production version. The combination of fabric or leather upholstery creates a unique interplay between the seat and backrest, making them seem to float. The hand-made buttons on the seat and backrest require precision and craftsmanship to upholster. The brass screws at the joints also add an elegant touch. The armrests and legs, which consist of three parts, are meticulously hand-polished to ensure that the seams are not noticeable. Although delicate, the comfort of the soft seat and backrest is at the heart of the design.
