VLA77 Foie 2-seater sofa, oak wood, oil finish, leather, sif 90
The Foie sofa was designed for the Radio House in Copenhagen (now the Royal Danish Academy of Music), designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1945. Production began in close collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2022. The original was made of teak and beech, but for the production version, an FSC& certified oak frame was used. The combination of fabric or leather upholstery creates a unique interplay between the seat and backrest, making them seem to float. The seat and backrest are decorated with hand-made buttons, which require time-consuming precision and craftsmanship to upholster. The brass screws at the joints also add elegance. The armrests and legs, which consist of three parts, are meticulously hand-polished to ensure that the seams are not noticeable.
