CH45 Rocking Chair, Oak, Lacquer Finish
In the mid-1960s, Hans J. Wegner created a furniture series for Carl Hansen & Son consisting of 13 different items. Among them, the CH45, designed in 1965 and produced for only a short time, has been reissued. This furniture series expresses Wegner's unique style, influences from the Shaker style, and Scandinavian simplicity, and the CH44, CH46, CH47, and CH53, which are part of the series, are still in production today. The chair is not only comfortable to sit and rock, but also easy to stand up from. The sloping backrest gives it a dynamic look, and the bar shape, seat, and raised arms at the back feel similar to other furniture in the series. The grooves on the top of the backrest are not only decorative, but can also be used to hang a neck pillow. Made from FSC-certified oak, it is finished through a laborious process of weaving approximately 213 meters of paper cord into the seat over an hour and a half.
