The PK23 Lounge Chair, designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1954, features a distinctive split seat and combines modern aesthetics with comfort. Two versions were originally conceived for the dining room of the headquarters office project for FL Smith, the architectural firm where Poul Kjærholm worked after retiring from Fritz Hansen. However, they were never produced. Kjærholm's wife, Hanne, later approved a prototype for an exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and it was finally produced 70 years later. The chair features a sculptural, modern shape, with a laminated plywood shell for the back and seat and a stainless steel or black powder-coated steel base. The PK23 bridges the gap between Kjærholm's early work and his later minimalist designs, making it suitable for both classic and contemporary interiors. Its sculptural form and playful expression, iconic of Danish design, add an artistic accent to any space. Furthermore, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a Poul Kjærholm piece at an affordable price, making it a valuable collectible. This design is suitable for a variety of spaces, including commercial facilities and residential buildings. [Designed in 1954] Source: https://www.sempre.jp/
