This simple, monochrome mobile was created in the early 1940s as part of Charles and Ray Eames' experiments to improve their molded plywood technology. It even hung from the ceiling of their Los Angeles apartment. The mobile, comprised of two parts, is crafted from molded plywood, creating organic shapes reminiscent of Ray Eames' artwork and graphic design. The gentle curves and refined feel of wood are characteristic of this piece. The way it sways with the air or breeze adds movement and soothing to any space.
