Eames House Whale
Charles and Ray Eames lived in their legendary home, the Eames House, surrounded by pieces they designed themselves, as well as a collection of folk art and other small objects they found on their travels, in nature, and in their everyday lives. Much of their collection was driven by their quest for design and form. The Eames House was filled with their spirit of exploration and joy, and their ever-changing collages reflected their lives. One particularly eye-catching object in the Eames House was a massive wooden whale, a North American folk art object measuring over 100cm long. Charles and Ray Eames were so fond of this wooden whale that they displayed it in their studio and even featured it in inspirational photos of the lounge chairs they designed. Each whale is hand-painted from solid ash and individually crafted by artisans. Due to its handmade nature, this item may have slight variations in color and blemishes.
