AKADEMIA Chair, Oak
The Academia Chair, designed by Kaksikko, a duo of designers Wesley Walters and Sarah Rutasela, combines a classical straight frame with a softly curved seat and backrest. The curves provide a sense of stability when sitting, and although it is small, you can sit comfortably. As its name suggests, the Academia Chair was designed by Wesley Walters as his doctoral thesis while he was enrolled at Aalto University in Helsinki. It is influenced by various cultures, including the tradition of Finnish chair manufacturing, the simple Shaker style of America, and traditional Japanese design. The Academia Chair is suitable for use in dining scenes as well as public spaces, and is also used in the cafe at iittala Omotesando in Japan.
