Butterfly Stool
This iconic stool, designed by Yanagi Sori, a designer who laid the foundation for Japanese industrial design, was released in 1956. After the war, Yanagi witnessed the Eames' molded plywood technology in the United States, and through his imagination and Tendo Mokko's molded plywood technology, this beautiful stool was born. The simple structure of two identical pieces of molded plywood joined with brass fittings gives it the appearance of a butterfly in flight, hence the name. The way the two pieces of molded plywood support each other makes it an ideal wedding gift. While its form is unique, its appealing, soft curves exude warmth and it blends in with a variety of interior styles. It is a masterpiece of design history, and is part of the permanent collections of museums around the world, including the Louvre in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Winner of the Good Design and Long Life Design Awards. Source: https://item.rakuten.co.jp/
