Designed after a used sofa from the 1980s, ACME FURNITURE's "LAKEWOOD OTTOMAN" is crafted from distinctive thick-ribbed corduroy. This ottoman is specifically designed for the Lakewood sofa, resized to fit the Japanese physique and modern lifestyle. The upholstery is custom-made with a thicker-count thread than standard corduroy, resulting in a longer pile. The texture changes with touch, revealing shadows and changing appearance. This alternating pattern of thick and thin ribbed fabric is achieved using a pile-cutting technique called "oyakogiri," resulting in a highly unusual fabric. To maximize the fabric's unique characteristics, piping is added in key areas, and the upholstery is purposefully reverse-haired (versus the usual smooth texture from top to bottom), creating a texture that stands up when you sit on it, creating a sophisticated look even when new.
