Pendant light VB13-P
The VB13-P pendant lamp from the "AKARI" series, a light sculpture by sculptor Isamu Noguchi, was reissued in 2004 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of AKARI's founding. This pendant lamp features the simplest structure in the AKARI series. Simply insert the shinbari into the shade, stretch it, and center the bulb to create a light sculpture. Its modern style elevates both Japanese and Western-style rooms. The light filtering through the washi paper creates a soft, well-dispersed glow. Sculptor Isamu Noguchi first encountered lanterns in 1951, and began creating AKARI. These lanterns, created with a commitment to Japanese aesthetics, are also known as "light sculptures" and have become timeless designs beloved around the world. Each lantern is still handcrafted by artisans at Ozeki, a long-established lantern manufacturer in Gifu, using the original molds. AKARI is also part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and its name "Akari" (light) comes from the meaning of "letting the light of the sun or moon into the room," and the kanji for the light are made up of the characters for "sun" and "moon."
