Pendant Light Long L8+PE2-16
This long pendant lamp (L8+PE2-16) is part of the "AKARI" series of light sculptures by sculptor Isamu Noguchi. This large-sized AKARI lamp is primarily designed for hanging from the ceiling. Its striking presence lends it a commanding presence in spacious areas such as living room corners, open ceilings, guest rooms, and lobbies. Its modern style elevates the interior of both Japanese and Western-style rooms. The light filtering through the washi paper creates a soft, well-dispersed glow. Sculptor Isamu Noguchi first encountered lanterns in 1951 and began creating AKARI. These lanterns, created with a commitment to Japanese aesthetics, are also known as "light sculptures" and have become timeless designs beloved around the world. Even today, each lantern is handcrafted by artisans at Ozeki, a long-established lantern manufacturer in Gifu, using the original molds. AKARI is also part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and its name "Akari" (light) comes from the meaning of "letting the light of the sun or moon into the room," and the kanji for the light are made up of the characters for "sun" and "moon."
