Penguin Donkey Bookcase
This iconic ISOKON bookcase, designed by Egon Riss in 1939, is an artistically bent storage rack crafted from birch plywood, which exhibits a beautiful, patina-like surface that ages beautifully. It was named "Donkey" because its two shelves and four legs resemble a donkey carrying panniers. It was later renamed "Penguin Donkey" because it perfectly accommodated the books published by the British publisher Penguin Paperbacks. The distinctive curves of the molded plywood make this a signature ISOKON item. In addition to its charming, unique design, it's also incredibly easy to use. With storage on both sides, dividers on the shelves, and a removable small top, this versatile storage solution offers a wide range of uses. Source: https://www.truss.jp/
