Circle Box Maru Kogei Circle Box
The Circle BOX was born from a collaboration between Landscape Products and Maru Kougei. This beautiful box, handcrafted by Hida-based Maru Kougei, is a special order for Landscape Products. It offers more storage space than a standard oval box, and can accommodate not only clothing and accessories, but also wine glasses. The medium and large sizes come with a leather strap, allowing for storage. The edges are joined with brass rivets, showcasing the Shaker box design. The frame is crafted by steaming thin, finished wood at 92°C and bending it, resulting in a meticulous, handcrafted finish. The meticulous, meticulous finish by Masafumi Osawa, a woodworker from Takayama, Hida, is captivating. [Masafumi Osawa, Maru Kougei] Osawa personally handles everything from sawing logs to crafting his own products. He uses a steam-bent wood bending technique to mold hardwood and secure it with brass nails. The "swallowtail" joints, which are used to prevent the pieces from floating up, are cut out one by one with a small knife.
