The Model S.16 industrial chair features the so-called "compass legs" characteristic of the Dutch mid-century period. It's available in the 2023 spot color, "gray/caribbean blue." The Model S16 industrial chair was produced in the late 1950s and early 1960s, combining affordability with practicality and durability to withstand heavy use in public facilities such as schools, offices, hospitals, and dining halls. Its popularity has since expanded to many facilities across Japan, making it one of the company's signature products. While once discontinued, the S16, which has a global following as a vintage piece, resumed production in 2014. Its simple, industrial appearance and wide color palette, inspired by the industrial designs of Jean Prouve, Wim Rietveld, and Friso Kramer, transcend time and context, making it suitable for a variety of spaces, from residential to commercial. 2023 Limited Edition Spot Color: The 2023 limited edition spot color is a refreshing and deep "Caribbean Blue." The seat is gray, creating a complementary color combination. Compass Legs: The "Compass Chair," considered a representative example of Dutch mid-century design, features distinctive inverted V-shaped legs, commonly known as "compass legs," and was produced by multiple manufacturers from the 1950s to the 1960s. Galfanitas also produced them, but unlike other Compass Chairs, they are primarily used in public facilities, schools, and government agencies, rather than in private homes. Special Material: PAG Wood: The plywood used for the seat and backrest is a special composite material called "PAG Wood," developed by the German company PAGHOLZ. PAG Wood is a reinforced material made by compressing beech plywood and a special resin, offering impact resistance, durability, and water resistance. The seat features subtle textures to reduce slippage, a subtle attention to detail that reflects the S.16's attention to detail. Source: https://www.truss.jp/
