In 1951, Charles and Ray Eames, working with their design staff on bending and joining wire, created the Wire Mesh Chair. To achieve strength and an organic shape, the Eameses crafted the chair's frame from thin wire, creating a double-layered structure. Reinforcement is only provided in areas where strength is needed, maintaining the chair's lightness. Each rod is carefully bent to create a light and beautiful silhouette.
