Nanbu Ironware Pot Holder, Horse Chestnut
This Morioka Nambu Ironware trivet "Maronie" was designed by craft designer Tadahiro Baba around 1970. Tadahiro Baba is a craft designer who has been working to popularize design and revitalize local industries, including serving as chairman of the Japan Craft Association. He has long been involved in the design of Nambu Ironware, a traditional craft of Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, and many of these works were designed in the 1970s. At the time, when traditional iron kettles were the norm, these were innovative and modern, so their production ended without many people seeing them. These long-dormant works were reissued by MEISTER in the 1990s, and are still produced in the same way as they were then. The design, which becomes an object just by being there, matches the modern era beautifully and conveys the quality of Nambu Ironware through its design. Source: https://www.truss.jp/
