This "Kyoshu" (Nostalgia) red ink pad and seal holder, made from Morioka-style Nambu ironware, was designed by craft designer Tadahiro Baba around 1970. Baba is a craft designer who has dedicated himself to promoting design and revitalizing local industries, including serving as chairman of the Japan Crafts Association. He has long been involved in the design of Nambu ironware, a traditional craft of Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Many of these pieces were designed in the 1970s. At a time when traditional iron kettles were the norm, these innovative and modern pieces were discontinued without attracting many attention. After a long hiatus, these pieces were reissued by MEISTER in the 1990s and are still manufactured using the same methods as they were back then. The design, which becomes an objet d'art simply by being there, blends beautifully with modern times and conveys the quality of Nambu ironware through its design. Source: https://www.truss.jp/
