Nanbu Ironware Seal Case Owl
This "Owl" seal case, crafted by craft designer Tadahiro Baba around 1970, is crafted from Morioka-Nambu ironware. Baba Tadahiro is a craft designer who has dedicated himself to promoting design and revitalizing local industries, including serving as chairman of the Japan Crafts Association. He has long been involved in the design of Nambu ironware, a traditional craft of Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Many of these designs were created in the 1970s. At a time when traditional iron kettles were the norm, these innovative and modern designs were discontinued without attracting many attention. After years of dwelling, these pieces were reissued by MEISTER in the 1990s and are still manufactured using the same methods as they were back then.
