Riki Mobile MIYAMA Riki Mobile MIYAMA
This mobile is based on the motif of "fish swimming in the wind" designed by Riki Watanabe. The original was designed in 1983 as part of the interior design of the Japanese restaurant "Miyama" in the Keio Plaza Hotel Shinjuku, Tokyo. The original was made of six cedar boards and had a strong presence in the large space. Then, in 2011, to commemorate his 100th birthday, it was redesigned and reproduced in a size suitable for use in an ordinary home. It depicts a school of fish floating in the water, and you can feel his playfulness. It is made of solid Akita cedar boards, the same material as the original, so that it will fill the room with fragrance when hung and you can enjoy the changes over time. The mobile is a product that Watanabe is so attached to that he commented, "It is my dream itself. It moves lightly in the breeze." Source: https://www.truss.jp/
