Curl Pendant Lamp L
The "Curl Pendant Lamp" is an enamel lamp depicting Japanese scenery. It is an enamel lamp made using "spinning" technology. The shape, where the inside and outside gently invert and curve back, was created by exaggerating the process of rolling the rim outwards, which is applied to general enamel products for reinforcement and to prevent distortion. The motif for the shape is the roofs of shrines and temples that have historically shaped the Japanese landscape. "Curl" uses the same curve as the magnificent curved roofs of shrines. In the shade molding process, it is manufactured using the essence of a technique called "spinning," where a rod called a "spatula" is pressed against a rotating metal plate to gradually deform it. We are exploring the curled "base" shape and thickness that can be achieved without rolling the rim outwards, in collaboration with enamel craftsmen. The design is by Shuhei Shibayama.
