The "BKF Chair," also known as the "Butterfly Chair," was designed by three Argentine designers (Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy), and named BKF after their initials. They all worked under the 20th century's leading architect, Le Corbusier, but his influence is not strongly felt in this chair. Instead, it was inspired by a chair designed in 1855 by the English engineer Josef Fenby, and was born in 1938. It was particularly popular among young people from the 1950s to the 1960s, and its popularity was comparable to that of Charles and Ray Eames.
