S.16 CHAIR
The industrial chair "Model S16" was produced in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a design that incorporates practicality and durability to withstand heavy use in public facilities such as schools, offices, hospitals, and dining halls. Since then, the chair has been widely adopted in many facilities in Japan and has become recognized as one of the company's representative products. Although production was once suspended, the S16, which has fans all over the world as a vintage chair, resumed production in 2014. The simple, industrial appearance and wide range of colors, which are in line with the industrial products of Jean Prouvé, Wim Rietveld, and Friso Kramer, transcend time and environment and are used in a variety of spaces, from homes to commercial facilities. The steel frame is pressed and folded instead of the traditional tubular structure, resulting in a very solid and innovative design. The seat is made of "pagwood," a laminated plywood made of compressed beech wood and resin material developed by PAGHOLZ in Germany.
