The No. 202 stool, designed by Isamu Kenmochi, is produced by Akita Mokko, Japan's oldest and only bentwood furniture manufacturer. It features a re-released rattan seat and a frame crafted from high-quality oak, a wood with beautiful grain. The rattan-seat Kenmochi stool was produced from 1963 to 1987 and then discontinued. However, to commemorate its 60th anniversary, it has been reproduced in its original silhouette using original drawings and jigs. Since its founding in 1910, Akita Mokko has been the only company in Japan specializing in bentwood craftsmanship, building a history of over 100 years. The skilled artisans at the company place the components in a steamer, steam them, and then bend each piece by hand. Designed by Isamu Kenmochi, one of Japan's leading industrial designers, this stool has been a long-selling masterpiece, with over 1.25 million units produced since its introduction in 1958. The No. 202 stool is lightweight and easy to lift with one hand, making it easy to carry. The seat is wide and stable, providing a comfortable seating experience. The delicate, beautiful rattan weave of the seat is pleasing to the eye, while providing a comfortable, body-conforming seating experience. The chairs are stackable for easy storage; you can stack them and store them under a table when not in use. This design is unique to Kenmochi Isamu, taking into account the housing conditions in Japan. The oak used for the legs and frame is extremely hard and boasts beautiful color and grain, making this a model for those who appreciate wooden furniture. Source: https://www.truss.jp/
